Biography

Matt has been playing in various Denver bands for more than 15 years, including the Faders, The Slicks, The Affairs, and a brief stint in Cowboy Curse. Matt was greatly inspired by the lo-fi independent music revolution of the 1990s, and he has written and recorded hundreds of tunes of his own, in addition to the bands he's been in, one way or another, just for the hell of it. Governors is by far ...the heaviest band he's ever been in, and that's okay.

Abe is the newest member of the band. He also plays bass in local band Suns Of Ra. This laid-back guy can now claim the title of Old Fart Of The Band, as he is a year older than Matt. In addition to his other music project Big Tundra, he is also an accomplished stage actor who has played dozens of roles, the latest being Taigh McCabe in Denver Victorian Theater's production of "The Field" in Spring 2011.

Will is unemployed and plans to stay that way if he can help it. Please donate. Will also currently pounds the skins in his other, indie rockish band The Masculine. He has played with The Touching Morons, Left Channel and other local bands. He cut his teeth musically in Half Track (math rock) back in his native Virginny. He is adamantly opposed to being on Facebook for some reason. Therefore, sadly you will not see him tagged in any photos.

Former bassist Ross Hagen graduated in May 2010 from CU with a PhD in Musicology. The economy and the academic job market being what they are, he elected to take a teaching position at Utah Valley University as soon as it was offered. He was sorely missed, but don't feel bad for him... he hadn't lived in Utah two weeks before he promptly joined the grindcore band Burn Your World, which is shattering eardrums all over the central UT valley. This soft spoken guy has played in diverse projects such as Spawn Of The Matriarch (progressive death metal), A Flock Of Beagles (80s new wave), and Schrei Aus Stein (black/goth ambient metal, if that makes sense) in addition to performing his own dark ambient music around town every once in a while, a project known as Encomiast. Ross is fond of big words that baffle the other members of his former band.
